Eighth Skoda student car to be named Skoda Afriq
26 Nov 2021|771 views
The 25 apprentices at the Skoda Vocational School have chosen the 'Afriq' name for the eighth Skoda student car.
The name highlights the fact that the student car - a rally version of the Skoda Kamiq - is being developed in collaboration with Skoda Motorsport and commemorates the legendary Dakar Rally in Africa. The name is also taking on a second significance as Skoda is taking on responsibility for all Volkswagen Group activities in North Africa since early this year.
The Skoda Afriq is described as a car that will take after the look of the many vehicles that competed in the legendary Dakar Rally. At 4,362mm long and with a wheelbase of 2,649mm, it is said to incorporate many new and unusual ideas.
