firefly by NIO unveiled at 2026 Singapore Motor Show

NIO is now in Singapore, but instead of debuting with one of their SUVs, sedans or estates, the brand has chosen to launch firefly, a five-door electric hatchback to our shores. As a reflection of how important Singapore, firefly's introduction also marks the global debut of NIO's first right-hand drive model and its entry into Southeast Asia.
Although compact, the firefly is designed to be practical and convenient, which, coupled with its styling, is what NIO hopes will draw buyers. Size-wise, the firefly is 4,003mm long, 1,781mm wide, 1,557mm tall, with a wheelbase length of 2,615mm. It's about the size of a MINI Aceman, a model that it is taking on.
Inside, drivers will find a cockpit with a minimalist layout, but it is surprisingly well-equipped. Standard equipment includes ventilation and massage functions for both the driver and front passenger, 256-colour mood lighting, and shiftless parking assist.
To enhance space, the front seats have a 'bench-style' layout. The centre console isn't connected to the dashboard, so in case a car parks too close on one side, occupants can slide over to enter/exit. All seats are upholstered in a combination of microfibre and vegan leather.
A flat floor improves room for backseat passengers. Beneath the rear seat is a 29-litre storage compartment, which is handy for keeping valuable items such as laptops or tablets out of sight. The boot is relatively roomy as well, offering 404 litres with the rear seats up and 1,253 litres when the backrests are folded.
The firefly also offers a 92-litre frunk. That's relatively sizable, especially considering that the Tesla Model Y, a much bigger car, has a frunk capacity of 116 litres.
With regard to performance, the firefly's electric motor produces 105kW (141bhp) and 205Nm of torque, which allow the rear-wheel drive hatchback to finish the century sprint in 8.1 seconds. Fed by a 42kWh battery, the firefly has a range of 320km. Maximum charging speeds are 11kW for AC, and 100kW for DC.
As for safety, the firefly's safety features include lane departure warning, blind spot detection, emergency active stop, and adaptive cruise control. It has also earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating and has an Adult Occupant protection score of 96, which is no small feat for a compact car.
Prices for the firefly start at $174,999 with six-bid guaranteed COE.
