Volkswagen has announced that its facelifted Touareg is now completing its final test miles in Sweden.
Although the car in the pictures is still decked out in a camouflage wrap, Volkswagen has revealed that the large SUV is set to get new IQ.LIGHT HD matrix head lights in this update.
These new head lights will utilise a total of 38,400 micro LEDs (19,200 for each side of the vehicle), allowing them to emit a particularly bright beam of light without dazzling oncoming traffic. The technology promises more comfortable late-night drives, and easier navigation through narrow lanes in the Touareg.
At the rear, the new Touareg is also set to get its centrally-positioned logo illuminated in red. The use of illuminated logos has been permitted in Europe since January 2023, although Singapore has yet to make a similar move.
Those planning to take their vehicle on road trips or through rougher surfaces will also appreciate the Touareg's new roof load sensor, which is now connected to the chassis electronics so the SUV can offer heightened stability if the roof is not loaded. However, if a roof box is installed, assistance systems such as the Electronic Stability Control will account for the vehicle's raised centre of gravity, enhancing overall driving stability.
Volkswagen states that both the steel springs and the two-chamber air suspension systems have also been optimised with the facelift to offer a larger bandwidth between comfort and performance.
Volkswagen's 'Innovision Cockpit', which utilises a 15-inch central touchscreen will continue to serve duty in the Touareg, although the voice control system has been improved, while connecting via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now be done wirelessly.
The armrests and centre console of the cabin are also now softer, a move made in response to customer feedback.
