The first Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link train - and the first of eight - was unveiled in Singapore on 30 June 2025 at the Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC)
It will be expected to run on the RTS Link, which is a 4km railway shuttle link that connects Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru to Woodlands North, Singapore, with travel times as fast as five minutes.
Fully automated and driverless, the train is also capable of ferrying 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction (with a frequency of 3.6 minutes during peak hours) and can accommodate up to 180,000 passengers a day.
As of June 2025, the RTS Link Project is about 56% complete. This comprises of the trackwork, trains, and the integration of signalling, communications, and control systems.
And of course, prior to entering passenger service, the train will be put through its paces by undergoing comprehensive system testing at the SRTC, which will be followed by additional tests and preparations on the RST Link tracks.
LTA has said that the RTS Link is targeted to commence passenger service by December 2026.
