Ford has confirmed it will be taking part in the electric car challenge taking place on 3rd and 4th June at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb. Trevor Willis, 2012 British Hill Climb Champion and current leader of this year's championship will be driving the new Ford Focus Electric in this newly created class for The Midland Automobile Club's British Racing Green hill climb event. The Midland Automobile Club invited all the car manufacturers to enter a variety of classes with the electric class being the main focus, as the venue looks to create some new history at the 112-year old venue.
Ford will be entering its brand new Focus Electric, a zero-emission five-door hatchback, which can travel up to 225km on a single battery charge and is powered by a 143bhp electric motor, and a 33.5kWh battery. Both the battery and motor are liquid-cooled and heated, helping the new Ford Focus Electric be more energy-efficient and extending the battery lifespan.
Mark Constanduros, Commercial Manager for Shelsley Walsh commented, "We have had a lot of interest in this new class and it is wonderful to see Ford enter its new Focus Electric and to have the current leader of this years British Hill Climb Championship Trevor Willis as their driver is a real coup!"
