The annual German European School Singapore (GESS) Volkswagen Cup is back for its 17th run between 1 and 3 March 2024.
Hosted by GESS and driven by Volkswagen Singapore, this year's edition will see 400 players from over 30 teams compete in rounds of matches to bag a last-gasp victory. The players are aged between eight and 16 years old, and represent eight different schools.
Happening in just a few hours now on the German European School compound is the first day of the competition. The public can catch the matches, which are open to all, at the following dates and times:
- 1 March 2024, 4:30pm to 7:10pm
- 2 March 2024, 8:00am to 6:40pm
- 3 March 2024, 8:00am to 6:30pm
Visitors may park within the school albeit on a first-come, first-served basis as lots are limited. Spectators can show their support for the players and competitive football by tagging @volkswagensg and #WeDriveFootball on social media over the next two days.
Participants in the GESS VW Cup will receive event football jerseys, medals, trophies, as well as access to professional referee services, scoring, and first aid assistance. The GESS Volkswagen Cup continues the automotive brand's commitment in embracing the passion, unity and diversity that comes with the footballing way of life.
"At the heart of Volkswagen is a commitment to democratisation and diversity - not just in the cars we create but in every aspect of what we do." said Mr. Moritz Huss, General Manager of Volkswagen Singapore.
"Through initiatives like We Drive Football, the Volkswagen brand has long stood by amateurs and professionals of all ages and genders in the pursuit of the world's favourite sport," he added.
