Green devil: This is the Mercedes-AMG A45 S Limited Edition
14 Feb 2024|1,185 views
It's no secret that the Mercedes-AMG A45 S is one of the most powerful hot hatches you can buy today. In tandem, it's always had the visual aggression to match its power.
But for those who've somehow felt more could be done to make the A45 S look meaner, Mercedes-AMG has heard your calls. Now, it's presenting this: The A45 S Limited Edition.
In this Limited Edition variant of the A45 S, the amount of power squeezed out of its turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four is the same as before, though no less ridiculous still: 416bhp and 500Nm of torque. This five-door firecracker will complete the century sprint in a scant 3.9s.
'AMG green hell magno' makes its debut for the first time on a compact AMG model with this A45 S Limited Edition. The special edition variant also proudly wears its name and its parent's crest on its body
Where the Limited Edition ups the stakes, however, is on the visual front. Most striking of course is the car's matte green paintwork - or "AMG green hell magno" in Mercedes-AMG speak - which makes its debut for the first time on a compact AMG model. (This coat has been worn previously by the AMG GT.)
Proud of its identity and heritage, the A45 S Limited Edition also loudly wears its name on its front doors, while AMG's signature crest is imprinted on the bonnet.
Green isn't the only hue you'll find on this hot hatch. As a contrasting colour, yellow is also widely used all over the car's body - and has even made its way onto the spokes of the car's rims. Speaking of those, the car rides on edition-specific matte black 19-inch AMG forged wheels, served up in a "seven-twin-spoke" design.
The A45 S Limited Edition hasn't just been done up on the outside either.
Step in and you'll be greeted by AMG Performance bucket seats, covered in black with a mixture of ARTICO (man-made) leather and microfibre. You'll find yellow again everywhere here - on the stitching of the seats, steering wheel and door panels; on the AMG-patterned aluminium trim elements; and on the illuminated AMG logo on the door sills. There are apparently even flashes of yellow on the floor mats.
If the 'base' Limited Edition isn't fierce enough for you, Mercedes-AMG is offering three equipment packages that can be added on too. Two of them - the AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II - are largely aesthetic.
But the final one, called the AMG Aerodynamics Package, was apparently developed in a wind tunnel. Comprising special add-on parts and a fixed rear wing, they help to increase contact pressure and improve the hatch's driving characteristics at high speeds.
The A45 S Limited Edition is now gearing up for a market launch in April 2024. You have the better part of eight months to get it; Mercedes-AMG says orders will be open up till the end of this year.
