Open-top thrills, with the power and drama to match.
Hennessey has announced that it has supercharged Chevy's Corvette C8 Stingray hard top convertible (HTC) - with a performance pack that it has called the 'H700'. To compete against the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06, the car is equipped with a muscular belt-driven blower, increasing the power and torque levels of the standard mid-engine Stingray HTC.
How much extra power will the car's engine receive, you may ask?
The 8th generation C8 convertible is shipped with a mid-mounted LT2 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine is said to deliver 490bhp and about 630Nm of torque in stock configuration. The Hennessey team, which is Texas based, will also be installing a high-performance supercharger, crafted to fit the compact engine compartment.
Revamped with the high-performance engine software, the H700 boosts output to an incredible 708bhp and about 865Nm torque, which beats Chevrolet's C8 Z06. For context, the (official) flagship Corvette has a 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8, which already pumps out 661bhp and 623Nm of torque.
It's not just the new software that has helped to bolster power, though. The upgrade package for the Hennessey Supercharged 'H700' Corvette C8 Stingray also includes a supercharger with air-to-water intercooler, high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel system, cat-back exhaust system, Hennessey engine and transmission calibration, and all necessary gaskets and fluids.
The optional upgrades, on the other hand, consist of an active-valve exhaust system, 19-inch alloy wheels and a Hennessey C8 Heritage Livery. The wheels will come in gloss black, matte gunmetal, or satin silver finish, while on the other hand, the livery is available in blue, white, black, silver and red.
