Hyundai Group takes lead in IIHS safety awards

The Hyundai Motor Group has announced that it has taken the most combined Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick awards by the U.S.A Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The awards, the group states, are a highlight of its industry lead in the area of safety.
The group has won the most awards in each category when its cars are equipped with optional front crash protection and specific head lights, with a total of 11 Top Safety Pick+ and 10 Top Safety Pick awards. Hyundai Motor and Kia both claimed eight awards each, while Genesis took five Top Safety Pick+ awards, one for each model currently available in the U.S.A.
Awarded models include the Hyundai Tucson, Palisade, and Santa Fe (models built after July 2021), as well as the Hyundai Nexo, which all took the Top Safety Pick+ award. The Hyundai Elantra, Sonata and Venue and Santa Cruz (all when equipped with specific head lights) all claimed Top Safety Pick awards.
Kia meanwhile, saw the Telluride, Sorento, Seltos, and Carnival built after March 2021 (with specific head lights), Sportage and Soul (with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights) all taking Top Safety Pick awards. The Kia K5 and Stinger qualified as Top Safety Pick+ winners.
