Hyundai has revealed its refreshed Elantra N for the U.S.A.
On the design front, the performance sedan gets a new and bolder bumper as well as revised head lights which Hyundai states delivers added visual aggression, embodying the N brand's high-performance spirit. The car also now gets new standard forged alloy wheels that reduce total unsprung weight by 14.9kg compared to the previous wheel design.
What has been retained, however, are the N-specific red trim pieces on the lower section of the car. These include the front and rear bumpers and its side sill mouldings. The car also gets a black anodised emblem at its rear, accentuating its sporty identity.
A host of handling improvements have also been made to the vehicle. These include the use of a reinforced engine mount membrane, said reduce vibration and improve agility.
A host of suspension improvements have also been made to raise yaw response and steering precision, while the car also gets an updated suspension control software, optimised for these hardware changes. Hyundai states that the steering of the Elantra N has also been revised for better feedback and raised precision.
The car continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre unit that delivers a total of 276bhp and a maximum torque of 392Nm. This engine can be had with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Hyundai has, however, improved the cooling efficiency of this unit, thanks to the use of new duct-style air guard that channel air flow more efficiently to the radiator. Motorsports-derived air guide augments in the front bumper also bring more air over the braking system to improve air dissipation.
The refreshed Hyundai Elantra N will arrive at dealers in the U.S.A from January 2024.
