At Auto China 2026, Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) has reinforced its long-term to the Chinese market with the unveiling of the all-new Ioniq V.
As the first dedicated Ioniq production model for the Chinese market, the Ioniq V represents Hyundai's commitment to delivering EVs tailored specifically for local customer needs.
Derived from the Venus concept, the Ioniq V introduces Hyundai's new design language, The Origin. This sees a smooth, single-curve silhouette, with edge lighting in its "sharp, futuristic face", and the implementation of frameless doors and floating side mirrors for reduced air resistance.
Thanks to its 2,900mm wheelbase, the Ioniq V's wraparound interior offers a generous amount of space. In the cockpit sits a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic display that integrates key driving and infotainment functions. This is complemented by a Horizon head-up display that projects essential information directly into the driver's FOV.
The Ioniq V's reinforced body structure and comprehensive occupant protection systems enhance safety across a wide range of driving scenarios. In parallel, smart technologies improve everyday usability. Key highlights include a nine-airbag system, emergency braking support, and voice-based vehicle control via its LLM-powered Smart AI Assistant.
The Ioniq V will also be offered in a long-range model, which delivers a CLTC range of over 600km on a single charge.
Building on the Ioniq V's launch, Beijing Hyundai has said that it will continue to expand its electrified lineup, introducing an additional SUV model in the first half of 2027. This will be followed by a broader rollout across midsize to large segments, encompassing both battery electric vehicles and extended-range electric vehicles.
Beijing Hyundai also plans to introduce 20 new models in China over the next five years.
