The new Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid will be available here from September onwards.
Now based on an all new third generation platform, the new Santa Fe is now larger than its predecessor.
Total length has increased by 15mm to 4,785mm, while width has grown by 10mm, to reach a total of 1,900mm. The new growth means interior space has been improved. Hyundai states that the new Santa Fe will offer nine millimetres of additional second-row leg room and additional 40mm of additional third-row legroom compared to its predecessor.
Total bootspace has also been increased, to 782 litres with the third row of seats folded flat. And with them set upright you'll have 130 litres of space for your luggage.
On the exterior, the new Santa Fe certainly has plenty to please those looking to make a unique statement. The car sports a distinctive three-dimensional grille, emphasising the SUV's robust character.
Also unique is the T-shaped LED illumination signature. The car's Daytime Running Lights create an unmistakable signature graphic and also function as its turn signals.
At the rear lies a new taillight design with horizontally-stretched graphics to visually reinforce the width of the body. A red reflector band has also been added to connect the taillights.
Wider wheel arch claddings and new alloy wheel designs, including a 19-inch alloy wheel, reinforce the strong character of the new Santa Fe.
In the cabin, customers will get an 8.0-inch central display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless integration with their smartphone. The Santa Fe's connectivity suite is also complemented with wireless device charging.
The cabin is also fit with premium materials, including soft Nappa leather, soft-touch padding, and a new ambient lighting. A multi-layered, three-dimensional instrument panel and contrasting seat stitching convey a premium touch throughout the cabin.
The new Santa Fe is equipped with the new 'Smartstream' hybrid powertrain. It utilises a 1.6-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection petrol engine and a 59bhp electric motor, connected to a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. The system has a combined output of 227bhp, allowing the car to reach a maximum speed of 187km/h. The zero to 100km/h sprint is accomplished in 8.9 seconds with this drivetrain.
This engine is paired to a newly-developed six-speed automatic transmission. Compared to its predecessor, the new transmission brings improved transmission and fuel efficiency.
