Increased parking charges for NDP at One Fullerton

The Straits Times reported that The Fullerton Hotel and One Fullerton, which share a carpark, have raised parking charges for this weekend, ahead of the National Day Parade (NDP) preview.
The $25 per entry charge is five times more than the $5 it usually costs to park there on weekends and public holidays. The carpark charge will also hit $25 again during the actual NDP on 9th August.
Speaking to The Straits Times, Mr Giovanni Viterale, General Manager of The Fullerton Heritage, who manages The Fullerton Hotel and One Fullerton, said that this has been the practice for the past few years and that the price hike is to ensure that there are sufficient carpark spaces available for the patrons of The Fullerton Hotel, The Fullerton Bay Hotel and other tenants at One Fullerton.
However, other nearby carparks popular with NDP spectators will not have their charges raised. For example, the carpark at Esplanade Mall, charges a flat $6 fee for cars that enter between 6:00pm and 10:00pm. It is $2 every hour before that.
Marina Bay Sands, another popular NDP spot, will also not be increasing its parking charges, which starts from $6 and are capped at $26 each day. But a spokesman admitted that carpark spaces during the National Day celebrations are taken up quickly.
