The London Electric Vehicle Company has announced that more than half of London's entire black cab fleet now comprises of its plug-in range-extender TX model.
The firm states that more than 50% of London's 14,700 black taxis have significantly reduced their contribution to London's poor air quality and are reducing the overall environmental impact of London's iconic taxi fleet.
The firm's TX taxi fleet is said to already have more than 1.1 billion kilometres globally, preventing more than 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from entering the world's atmosphere since its introduction in 2018.
The plug-in range-extender TX offers an electric-only range of 126km, and a total range of 536km, making it suited for London's busy black cab drivers. The model is built in a state-of-the-art facility in Ansty, Coventry. The firm announced in May 2023 alongside its reveal of a new battery-electric platform that it intended to become more than manufacturer of the TX, and will work to become a leading zero-carbon mobility technology company.
