Borneo Motors Singapore has launched the new Lexus RZ450e all-electric SUV here in Singapore.
The Lexus RZ450e is the first all-electric vehicle from Lexus here based on the firm's e-TNGA battery-electric specific platform.
This platform comes with a host of benefits including an optimal weight distribution thanks to an ideal placement of the battery and motor. The position of the battery under the vehicle floor also ensures the RZ has a low centre of gravity for greater stability on the road, and more space for passengers in the cabin.
Within this platform, electric motors power both axles, with torque distribution between them calculated by Lexus' Direct4 all-wheel drive system to manage vehicle pitch and dive, taking Lexus' Driving Signature to an even higher level.
Unlike the Toyota bZ4X that also utilises this platform, the electric motors in the Lexus RZ450e offer up a total 308bhp and 435Nm of torque, which will see it hitting 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. Power for these motors comes from a 71.4kWh battery that allows the car to hit a WLTP range of 440km.
Lexus states that charging this battery via an alternating current supply will take 10 hours. However, the time to charge the car from 10% to 80% capacity can be reduced to just 30 minutes when charging via a 150kW direct current source.
Customers here in Singapore will easily be able to keep their Lexus RZ charged thanks to a new collaboration between Borneo Motors and Shell.
This collaboration will see new Lexus RZ owners residing in non-landed properties benefitting from 3,300kWh of Shell Recharge charging credits, while landed property owners will benefit from a total of 600kWh of charging credits.
In the cabin of the Lexus RZ450e is a 14-inch high-definition touchscreen that utilises a high-adhesion, anti-reflective coating to deliver a vivid display. The car also comes with a Mark Levinson Surround Sound system complete with a total of 13 speakers. The system also comes with a 224mm box subwoofer in the back door to offer rich, deep, and clear bass.
And up top, a panoramic roof complete with a dimming function extends from above the front seats to above the rear seats, contributing to a feeling of wide-open space.
Suede door trims and premium seat upholstery made with 30% bio-based sustainable materials also feature in the cabin. Aft of these seats, the Lexus RZ offers a total of 522 litres of boot space.
The Lexus RZ450e comes equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which include features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Emergency Steering Assist.
