Mazda confirms Mazda6e sedan for European market

Fans of Mazda's beautifully designed cars that have been waiting for more electric options from the brand have new reason to rejoice: An all-electric successor to the Mazda 6 is on its way to Europe.
Branded simply as the 'Mazda6e', the mid-sized sedan was unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show 2025, and will go on sale as early as mid-2025.
If the car in these pictures looks familiar, it's worth noting that this has been dubbed the European version of the Mazda EZ-6 - a China-only model developed between Mazda and Changan Automobile that made its debut at Beijing's Auto China 2024. Despite the different naming conventions, Mazda’s European team has confirmed that the Mazda6e and the EZ-6 are effectively the same machine.
While performance figures for the Mazda6e have yet to be confirmed, Mazda has revealed that the sedan will be available with at least two battery pack sizes: A 68.8kWh one giving the car up to 479km of range, and a larger 80kWh that will see its maximum range pushed up to 552km.
And despite the similarities in their names, expect the Mazda6e to be larger than the current Mazda 6 in virtually every area. The electric sedan measures 1,890mm wide and 4,921mm long, and has a wheelbase of 2,895mm - which is a good 65mm more than the Mazda 6's.
Otherwise, the Mazda6e is typical, sleek Mazda fare.
Designed with an 'Authentic Modern' philosophy in mind, its simple and flowing lines immediately make it distinguishable as a product from the brand. Mazda has also promised the same sort of driver-centricity found on its ICE cars, stating that the car has been engineered to produce the same quality of Jinba Ittai (or the Japanese term to convey the sense of 'car and driver as one'), with "meticulously-tuned braking and handling performance".
Another highlight that has been teased so far is the car's suite of smart technologies, including its smart cabin and driving assistance safety features.
