Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe embarks on final winter tests

A few weeks before the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe celebrates its world premiere, it underwent final winter tests in northern Sweden and demonstrated its power and precision.
On the frozen lakes and snow-covered roads of the AMG test track, the AMG Race Engineer - the brand's central driving dynamics control system - was put through its paces, as well as the model's AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system (which uses three axial flow motors for the first time in a fully electric sports car).
The new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe also features a high-performance, hydraulically coupled braking system, which combines carbon-ceramic brakes on the front axle with steel brakes on the rear axle for a consistently precise and pleasantly modulated brake pedal feel.
It also has directly cooled battery cells, which enables high performance and impresses with its energy absorption during charging - even in freezing temperatures. The battery's temperature control is also intelligently adapted to different driving situations and works in both directions.
Having subjected every new model to extreme winter testing near the Arctic Circle for decades, both Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG operates its own test centre in Arjeplog, a town in Lapland, Sweden. Such extreme conditions while testing on snow and ice place the highest demands on the vehicles' drive and control systems, making it possible to explore a vehicle's limits more quickly and safely and to optimise control systems in detail.
