Mercedes-Benz has opened the first charging station of its own North American fast-charging network in the U.S.A, located at the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz U.S.A in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
The charging station offers charging rates of up to 400kW, and sports a lounge complete with couches and lounge chairs, vending machines, refreshments, and restroom facilities, from which users can rest while waiting for the vehicle to charge up. Drivers of electric vehicles from any brand are welcome to charge their vehicle and enjoy a Mercedes-Benz brand commensurate experience at the new charging station.
The charging hub also comes with one charging spot (situated closest to the lounge), designed especially for handicap accessible vehicles, while one charging spot has been left uncovered, to allow it to be used by electric vans or by those towing along trailers.
The Mercedes-Benz North American charging network is being built in collaboration with MN8 Energy, a U.S.A-based renewable energy producer. Mercedes-Benz plans to deliver a total of 2,500 chargers within at least 400 charging hubs across North America by the end of the decade.
