Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster teased

The pictures show the car being covered up by black tape around parts of the headlights, taillights and the central parts of the grille and boot lid, but the overall shape is unmistakably SLS. The main difference between the SLS AMG Roadster and the Coupe is the obvious absence of the hard top roof, replaced by the soft top, and as a result, the use of conventional doors instead of the Coupe’s gullwing doors.
Like the SLS AMG Coupe, the Roadster was developed specifically by AMG, with special focus on the drop top’s body rigidity, driving dynamics, the soft top and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels. The Roadster features the same 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 571bhp and 650Nm of torque as the Coupe, with performance levels expected to be similar, as the Roadster is just 2kg heavier than the Coupe due to structural reinforcements.
The roof itself folds down at a touch of a button in just 11 seconds, and is operable at speeds of up to 50km/h. Mercedes-Benz claims that the roof can withstand speeds of up to 317km/h, and the car has undergone extensive testing in various environments, including 10,000 kilometres on the Nurburgring Nordschleife track and 10,000 kilometres in city traffic.

Mercedes-Benz will officially unveil the SLS AMG Roadster at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but before then, the Stuttgart carmaker has released a set of teaser photos that show the car undergoing development, with light disguises.
