London-based Go-Ahead, Singapore's fourth public bus operator, will begin plying 25 routes in Loyang and the surrounding areas from the third quarter of this year.
It is wooing both novice and veteran bus drivers and has said it is likely to bid for an additional package of routes in Seletar.
The 8.3ha depot, with a capacity for about 500 buses, was built by the Land Transport Authority last year at a cost of $61.2 million.
Yesterday's launch was part of a day-long carnival that drew almost 3,000 people to the depot with bus exhibits, photo opportunities and even a bus wash experience.
