New Volkswagen Polo Track announced for South America

Volkswagen has announced that it will invest more than $1.56 billion into South America over the next five years.
The new investment comes as the Latin America region returns to profitability for Volkswagen for the first time since 2013. The new investment will go towards strengthening the firm's competitiveness in the region, on top of new digitalisation and decarbonisation efforts. Further investments in the existing Biofuels Research and Development Centre located in Latin America are also expected.
Volkswagen states the use of biofuels with a positive CO2 balance will aid decarbonisation efforts in the region, particularly in places where travel involves covering long distances, and where charging networks are not widespread.
Also announced for the region is a new compact car family for the entry-level segment. The first model of which - the Polo Track - is already set to be produced at the plant in Taubate, Brazil, and will be based on the firm's MQB platform.
