Nissan and Honda recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see the two companies beginning a feasibility study of a strategic partnership in vehicle electrification and intelligence.
To accelerate efforts in achieving carbon neutrality and zero-traffic accident fatalities - goals shared by the both firms - the two carmakers have reached the understanding based on the belief that it is essential to combine strengths and explore future opportunities for collaboration.
Since 2004, Nissan's research and development team has been working on technologies to protect those in their vehicles. Beyond that, Nissan has a goal of achieving complete carbon neutrality for their operations and product life cycle by 2050.
Honda, similar to Nissan, also plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Honda has also set a goal for zero traffic-accident fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles worldwide by 2050.
In turn, strengthening environmental and electrification technologies, as well as software development, is essential in accelerating efforts towards both carbon neutrality and zero traffic-accident fatalities.
