Nissan has brought the Juke Rally Hybrid to life.
The car was only previously revealed in June 2021 as a series of images in celebration of the firm's participation in the East African Rally 50 years earlier.
The use of vintage sponsor stickers on the Juke Rally Hybrid pays homage to the 240Z rally car that competed in the East African Rally Now the car has moved from a design sketch into a fully operational one-off vehicle ahead of the market introduction of the Nissan Juke Hybrid to Europe.
The Juke Rally Hybrid is said to carry over the drivetrain of the production Juke Hybrid. A combustion engine specifically developed for working in a hybrid powertrain application thus produces 93bhp and 148Nm of torque.
This engine is assisted by an electric motor that produces 49bhp and 205Nm of torque, fed by a 1.2kWh water-cooled battery.
In order to drive into the most remote of locations, the Juke Rally Hybrid also comes equipped with enlarged wheel arches, alongside additional lights on its hood and roof.
Four-point harnesses alongside a tubular cage have been installed within the car for protection in case of an incident at speed This hood, the enlarged black wheels, the use of vintage sponsor logos and the number 11 plastered across its side all pay homage to the original 240Z rally car, as do the additional of reinforced plates under the front and rear valances which offer protection to the vehicle's underside.
The car has also received reinforced and long-travel suspension to give the Juke Hybrid Rally Tribute exceptional poise over the challenging terrain it will navigate.
Inside, the interior has been modified with the fitment of a tubular cage to stiffen the bodyshell and to offer protection in the case of an incident at speed. The rear seats have been removed to provide space for spare wheels and four-point harnesses have been added to secure the driver and navigator safely in their racing seats.
Other modifications to the interior include the fitment of a competition fire extinguisher, an intercom system with a pair of headphones to simplify communications between driver and navigator. The car also gets alcantara trim on the steering wheel and a hydraulic handbrake with high-reach handle for quick and easy activation.
