The Straits Times reported that a 20-year old student might need to have up to three of her toes amputated after being hit by a public bus. Ms Zheng Wen Qian was hit by SBS Service 95 at a bus stop in front of the Computer Centre at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Kent Ridge last Tuesday at around 2:00pm.
According to The Straits Times, the police received a call around the above mentioned time requesting for assistance, while a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said that Ms Zheng was deployed to the National University Hospital (NUH) with 'a serious injury'. The local paper added that the student 'is now in stable condition' with reference to a statement issued by NUS.
Ms Zheng told The Straits Times she has undergone one surgical operation and is being prepared for another. Her left foot was in a thick cast and her right in a brace.
Tammy Tan, SBS Transit spokesperson, said that representatives from the company have visited Ms Zheng and will continue to check on her recovery.
