Opel has revealed new images of its new Opel Experimental concept ahead of the car's scheduled reveal at IAA Mobility in Munich come 5 September 2023.
The concept car stands out thanks to its clean surfaces, which Opel states have been deliberately removed of any chrome detailing. This treatment brings attention to the vehicle's exterior lighting and contrasting graphics.
Details of note revealed in the pictures include the use of Opel's new Blitz logo, which appears at the front of the concept as an illuminated item, while at the sides, the concept gets cameras integrated into its C-pillars instead of traditional wing mirrors.
At the rear, the clean surface treatment has been employed to allow the tapering profile of the Opel Experimental to stand out. The compass-like lighting signature at the front is also repeated here at the rear of the car. This rear lighting signature is said to make use of edge lighting technology and combines with bold Opel lettering at its centre.
Opel states the concept sits atop a state-of-the-art Stellantis battery-electric vehicle platform and is additionally equipped with electric all-wheel drive.
Aiding the vehicle's total range are aero-flaps at the front and rear, as well as a rear diffuser. These flaps will open or close, depending on the prevailing driving situation. The Opel Experimental concept also makes use of tyres made from recycled rubber, developed in cooperation with Goodyear. These wrap rims that also come with an active aerodynamic feature to raise the aerodynamic efficiency of the concept even further.
In the cabin of the Opel Experimental, the use of a steer-by-wire system allows the steering wheel to be folded away when not in use. The car is also said feature lightweight and durable seats that make use of 3D mesh-technology.
A Tech Bridge also features here - a new interpretation of the Pure Panel already used in Opel's current models and replacing conventional screens - to deliver personalised information using augmented projection technology supported by artificial intelligence and voice control.
