Peugeot RC Z Concept to become reality

A final production models will be unveiled at the the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show before going on sale in the spring of 2010.

Peugeot says the specification of the production model will be based on the key features of the RC Z concept car, with Peugeot promising that the RC Z Pug will keep all the trademark flourished of the concept.

The RC Z concept is a 2+2 Coupe and pitch the French manufacturer against the likes of the Audi TT and BMW 3-Series Coupe.

With a length of 4,276mm, the same as the 308 five door hatchback, and a width of 25mm more than the 308 hatchback, the RC Z gives a wide but low stance and visually aerodynamic shape.

Power in the concept car came from a 1.6-litre THP turbocharged petrol engine with 218bhp and maximum torque of 280Nm rising to 300Nm in over-boost mode.

Top speed is 146mph, 0-62mph is covered in 7.0 seconds, while average fuel economy is claimed to be 42.2mpg with 160g/km of CO2 emissions.
