Peugeot releases the Hoggar

The Hoggar name was first used on a Peugeot two-seater buggy concept in 2003, and the French carmaker has now applied the name on the new pick-up, which sits on a hybrid platform developed from the rear end of the Partner van and the front end of the Brazilian-market 207 supermini, which itself was based on the 206, instead of the European market 207.

This makes the Hoggar the longest derivative of the 207 family, being longer than the hatchback by 653mm, the SW estate model by 453mm and the four-door sedan model by 290mm. The Hoggar features a load capacity of up to 742kg and a volume of 1,151 litres.

There is also a detachable tailgate that is able to withstand up to 300kg in weight. The Hoggar will be launched in Brazil in the middle of May, and be available with two Flex-Fuel engine options, an entry-level 1.4-litre that produces 82bhp if run on alcohol and 80bhp if on petrol, and a 1.6-litre engine with 113bhp on alcohol and 110bhp on petrol.
