Peugeot unveils the HYbrid3 Evolution three-wheeled scooter concept

The HYbrid3 Evolution concept was unveiled at the Milan International Cycle and Motorbike Show, and is a roofless version of the HYbrid3 compressor that was presented at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The HYbrid3 Evolution is a three-wheel-drive petrol-electric hybrid that uses a 0.3-litre petrol engine powering the rear wheel that produces 41bhp, as well as two 3kW electric motors at each front wheel that provides an additional 8bhp.

The electric motors are powered by lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged by an energy recovery system active during deceleration and braking. The front and rear motors are connected electronically by-wire, with no mechanical connections between the two.

Like many hybrid cars, the HYbrid3 Evolution can be driven in several modes, including pure electric mode, which has a range of 10km, pure petrol mode, or a combination of the two. Peugeot says that the HYbrid3 Evolution has a fuel consumption figure of 2 litres per 100km, although it has yet to confirm whether it will put the concept into production.
