Renault has announced that it will be partnering the Roland Garros French Open tennis tournament. The firm will be unveiling a Renault 5 E-Tech electric Roland-Garros special series during the event.
The brand will be displaying the special edition cat at a dedicated stand, prior to its arrival in showrooms in 2025. The special edition car will come in a total of four exterior colours: Pearl white, midnight blue, starry black and an exclusive shade of matt slate grey. Each of these colours compliment its chrome satin-finish roof trim and Ecrou 18-inch diamond-cut wheels in glossy black, which come complete with a hubcap finished in a matt shade of slate grey.
The Roland Garros logo, representing the Cross of Saint Andrew and inspired by the architecture of the stadium, will also feature at the lower part of the front doors of the car.
The interior of the Roland-Garros special series Renault 5 is equally special, featuring a light grey upholstery which utilises a dense, fine, graphic weave inspired by technical clothing from the world of sport. This fully recycled textile includes a number of open-weave features such as the H-shape of the backrest, and is further enhanced by blue TEP-upholstered lateral supports. The backrests of the front seats are heat embossed with the Roland-Garros logo.
The car also makes use of an e-pop gear selector which takes inspiration from tennis racket grips, with the Roland Garros logo appears at the end of the selector, just like the base of a racket. The centre console features a smart phone induction charging mat while the bruised aluminium door sills feature a Cross of Saint Andrew, again inspired by the architecture of the Roland Garros stadium and spelling out the name Roland Garros Paris.
On top of the world premiere of the Roland Garros special edition, Renault will also be providing a fleet of 180 vehicles to support the event, 88% of which are electrified. The fleet consists of 70 examples of the Scenic E-Tech electric, 30 examples of the Rafale E-Tech full hybrid, and 40 examples of the Espace E-Tech full hybrid and 20 of the Austral E-Tech full hybrid. The shuttles are also supported by four R5 vehicles from the 1970s, retrofitted to run on electric power by The Originals Renault - La Collection.
