Throughout the week, Renault has been hosting its F1 Showcase at Plaza Singapura, with the public able to get up close and personal with the full range of Renault cars. On Saturday (21 September), Renault F1 Racing Team Driver Daniel Ricciardo made a special appearance to meet hundreds of fans, as well as to take part in a range of activities.
With hundreds of fans in attendance and eager to meet Daniel Ricciardo, with some having waited for more than five hours, his arrival was greeted with loud cheers and generous applause. Lucky individuals had the oportunity to partake in several activities with him, including playing a game of charades, as well as racing on a driving simulator.
Supported by SimFai, a company that specialises in racing simulator equipment, 13-year old Kalen Chin had the unique opportunity to race head to head against Daniel Ricciardo. Having beaten out over 900 other contestants, Kalen proved his driving skills by narrowly edging out Ricciardo on a three lap race of the Singapore Grand Prix Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Additionally, as part of the Renault F1 team's effort to give back to society, Renault has come on board as a supporting partner of the President's Challenge. A group of 20 under-privileged children were invited to the meet-and-greet session, and had the opportunity to get up close with Daniel Ricciardo, as well as heading home with limited edition autographed merchandise.
These children were beneficiaries of FaithActs programmes, a community care service agency that serves the needs of children, at-risk youths, disadvantaged families and seniors in Queenstown, particularly those residing in Commonwealth Drive and Tanglin Hall esates. Mr. Melvin Yong, MP of Tanjong Pagar GRC, was the Guest-of-Honour of the event.
The Renault F1 Showcase will be running at Plaza Singapura throughout the F1 weekend.
