Renault launches the Twingo Gordini Renaultsport

The Twingo Gordini Renaultsport will be launched on January 10 2010 amidst the classy backdrop of the Champs-Elysees in Paris, and marks the long-awaited return of the Gordini nameplate to Renault performance cars.

Only the styling of the Twingo has been given the Gordini treatment however, with its French blue and white racing stripes and a choice of two body colours, Malta Blue or metallic Pearlescent Black. The Twingo Gordini Renaultsport also gets 17-inch alloy wheels with a polished finish and black inner rim.

Buyers of the Twingo Gordini Renaultsport can also specify a Cup chassis with a lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers as well as the 17-inch wheels with Malta Blue inner rim instead of black. However, the engine is the same as the Twingo Renaultsport 133 model, which is a 1.6 litre four-cylinder unit that produces 133bhp.

The Gordni touch extends its way into the interior, with blue and black Gordini-embossed leather seats, blue leather door panel inserts, blue gearlever gaiter and Gordini-badged gearlever knob and a blue rev counter with white surround. This is in addition to standard Renault equipment like automatic climate control, cruise control, a radio/ CD/ MP3 player and a fully disconnectable ESP system.
