Headed to the Singapore Grand Prix? The LTA has announced a slew of road closures, required to facilitate preparations for the race. The road closures will take place over seven days from 13 September 2023.
The affected roads will close from 12:01am on 13 September 2023, and all roads will return to become fully accessible by 5:30am on 19 September 2023, although some roads will be accessible before this, as the race organisers will take a phased approach to progressively re-open the roads after the race.
Motorists will also be able to access the Marina Centre area via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard (except for buses and vehicles with W, X, Y plates) from 12:00am to 1:00pm on the race days of 16 and 17 September 2023. Taxis and motorcycles will also be able to use the single-lane access roads at all times, except during the hours when the races are ongoing.
Traffic wardens will be deployed on site on race days to direct traffic and provide public assistance. Directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists. The car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Walk, and Marina Square will remain open to the public.
Those taking public transport to the area will want to note that MRT service hours will be extended on the race days. Trains will continue to run until 12:45am on 15 September 2023, 12:30am on 16 September 2023, and 12:45am on 17 September 2023. The operating hours for selected connecting bus services serving MRT stations will also be extended to match the last train services.
Drivers are advised to refer to the One Motoring page here for the full details of the road closure timings, and all are advised to utilise the LTA's road access and public transportation guide here to plan their routes to the area.
