The Seat Leon is being updated with new engines alongside improved digitalisation for its five-door and Estate versions.
The Seat Leon will continue to be offered with a range of petrol-only, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and diesel drivetrains, although this lineup is now comprised exclusively of four-cylinder engines.
The previous 1.0-litre unit is now replaced by a 1.5-litre engine which is linked to a six-speed manual transmission and delivers a total output of 113bhp, an increase of about 4bhp from the unit it replaces. Total torque, meanwhile, from this unit is now 220Nm, a 20Nm improvement over the engine it replaces.
Two additional mild hybrid options are also available. These both make use of a 1.5-litre engine and offer outputs of 113bhp and 147bhp respectively, and both come combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
New to the Seat Leon lineup is a new generation plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which makes use of a 1.5-litre 147bhp engine and a 113bhp electric motor to deliver a combined system total output of 201bhp alongside 350Nm of torque. A 19.7kWh lithium-ion net battery pack, meanwhile, allows this Seat Leon to deliver an electric-only range of over 100km.
On the exterior, the Seat Leon hatchback will now boast matrix LED headlamps. The cabin of the car, meanwhile, is now fitted with a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, while the standard infotainment system now measures a total of 10.4-inches, although drivers can opt for a 12.9-inch system that also comes with a retro-illuminated slider. The vehicle also now offers wireless fast-charging capabilities of up to 15W with refrigerated technology for mobile devices.
The Seat Leon is set to enter production in May 2024.
