Skoda adds new engines to the Octavia range

The new 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder direct-injection TSI engine produces 105bhp, and can be had with either a six-speed manual gearbox or the DSG dual-clutch transmission from Volkswagen. The engine is available for both the hatchback and estate variants.

In the hatchback, the engine is able to propel the car from 0-100km/h in 10.8 seconds, with the timing up to 10.9 seconds for the estate. Skoda says that the new engine is able to return a fuel economy figure of 5.7 litres per 100km for the hatch.

In other news, Skoda has given the 1.6-litre TDI CR models the option of the DSG seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The diesel engine is able to produce 105bhp, and, like the 1.2-litre petrol, is available for both the hatchback and estate bodystyles.
