Skoda Auto has announced that it has started production of the new Kodiaq at its Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic.
The start of production of the SUV comes after the firm has invested close to €71 million ($49 million) to modernize the plant's production line and welding shop. This investment also includes preparation for the production of the Kodiaq iV, a plug-in hybrid variant of the SUV.
Skoda additionally states that the production line has also seen updates to its chassis assembly section, its conveyor technology, as well as the robot functions for applying window glue.
Skoda has sold over 870,000 examples of the Kodiaq since the model made its premiere in 2016. The Kvasiny plant is currently primed to build up to 410 Kodiaqs a day.
