Skoda unveils the Kodiaq Armoured
27 Sep 2024|450 views
Shopping for your next armoured SUV? Forget the regular offerings from the premium brands - This Skoda Kodiaq has been tested to take on more than over 200 rounds of ammunition.
It's called the Kodiaq Armoured, and comes as the result of a joint project between Skoda U.K. and the British-based security experts UTAC Special Vehicles. And it comes certified to PAS 300 and PAS 301 Civilian Armoured Vehicle standards, which apparently means it has passed a gruelling set of tests designed to ensure that it meets certain payload, acceleration, maximum speed, handling and braking requirements.
Skoda and the experts at UTAC Special Vehicles then took things a step further with their ammunition tests, on top of ensuring that the Kodiaq Armoured can offer blast resistance from its sides, roof, and of course, the underfloor.
You'll also want to note that the Skoda Kodiaq Armoured has been designed to look as similar to the regular production model as possible, but for those who will be travelling with an escorting convoy, there’s also the option to have one with emergency lights and siren systems attached.
The car also sports special bullet-resistant glass and armoured steel protection for the passenger compartment, uprated suspension and braking systems to handle its increased weight, and even has a tyre retention system that prevents the tyre from leaving the rim even when deflated, so the driver can maintain control of the vehicle even in the most feared of scenarios.
A host of unspecified powertrain options are offered for the Kodiaq Armoured, although you'll only be able to have yours with just five seats.
