16 Sep 2024|1,001 views
The Skuber Race Team saw an unforgettable 2024 season in the Malaysia Championship Series, netting a win at the final race and securing third place in the overall Championship Class with their Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport despite a host of mechanical issues.
This season of the competition also saw the introduction of a new Touring Production Class, admitting vehicles with up to 2.0-litre engines, breathing new life into a series long dominated by the Honda Civic Type R but making the fight fiercer than ever.
The early races of the season proved difficult for the Skuber Race Team, which saw a mechanical failure in the first race of round one and a DNF result for race two of round one. And round two proved to not be any easier, with the team facing a 30-second penalty for a starting procedure infringement at race one of round two. Round three of the event saw better results for the team, however, with a win secured for race one before race two was cancelled due to poor weather.
The season finale of the event would also see the team taking a win, despite a host of mechanical challenges that persisted through the season. The Skuber Race Team states that the debut victory of its Golf GTI Clubsport has imbued it with confidence as it plans for the 2025 season, and attributes its success to the hard work of its crew, as well as the support from its friends and sponsors.
