Skuber Race Team and Singaporean driver Jonathan Xie have begun their 2026 campaign with an impressive showing at the Sepang International Circuit, competing in both the Malaysia Touring Car Championship (MTCC) Round 1 and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Round 1.
Joining Xie were teammates Baron Sim, Quek Kian Wee, Ishayet Hossain, and Avik Anwar, highlighting the team's growing regional presence. Notably, Suber Race Team has begun attracting drivers from across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Bangladesh, marking its emergence as a competitive and internationally appealing motorsport platform.
Across two highly competitive categories, the team demonstrated strong pace,
adaptability, and podium-winning performance.
In the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Round 1, Xie - alongside teammates Sim - received first place for both races in the AM Class and came fourth overall (coming just 13.020 seconds behind the overall winner), marking a strong debut. Xie also recorded a best recorded lap time of 2:08.490.
In the MTCC Round 1, Skuber Race Team competed in the MT2G category, gaining valuable championship points in a competitive grid. Xie secured a good overall finishing position - third in class (MT2G) in Race 1 and fifth in class (MT2G) in Race 2.
While the MTCC weekend presented tougher challenges, the team used the races to refine setup, strategy, and data - crucial for long-term championship development.
The Sepang opener positions the Skuber Race Team as a serious contender in the AM category of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, while continuing to build experience in the touring car competition.
With this strong opening, Skuber Race Team will now shift its focus to upcoming rounds across Asia, with the aim of converting class wins into championship contention, improving qualifying performance and race execution, and strengthening its presence across both GT and touring platforms.
Following a high impact start to the 2026 season, the Skuber Race Team is actively seeking partners to join its growing motorsport program. With exposure in premium racing series like Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, the team offers strong branding and regional visibility across Asia - now further enhanced by its expanding international driver lineup.
