Smart Automobile, a joint venture established by Mercedes-Benz AG and Geely, took the chance at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show to preview a new model that's headed for our shores soon: The Smart #5. Incidentally, Singapore holds the honour of being only the third country to have hosted the car so far (after Australia, where its physical world premiere was held, and China).
Known for its microcars, the Smart #5 - the largest car by the German-Chinese marque - doesn't exactly scream 'compact', but as Smart mentioned: "We looked at [the question of] if Smart were to leave the city." The brand also said that this is a car for the outdoors, and that part of its philosophy is that Smart has an honest design that transcends segments.
The Smart #5 measures 4,692mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,705mm tall. Exterior features include LED Headlights and Taillights, a panoramic sunroof, concealed door handles, and a powered tailgate. Inside, its cabin sports highlights such as ambient lighting, one touch comfort mode, six-way powered front seats adjustment with ventilation, and a centre console with air vent cooling.
It also comes with top in class driver assistance features, as well as infotainment amenities such as a Sennheiser signature sound system, 13-inch central screen display, 13-inch passenger screen display, and a 25.6-inch augmented heads up display.
Equipped with an 800V Technology battery with a capacity of 100kWh, the car offers a CLTC range of 740km. It also offers seven drive modes: Comfort, Sport, BRABUS, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock.
Smart Singapore estimates that the #5 will arrive on our shores in the second half of 2025, with actual specification and pricing details to follow in time.
