Earlier, the Smart #5 made its local preview at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show. While the model is slated for arrival in "The Lion City" in the second half of 2025, the mid-size, all-electric SUV will now be available for order in Germany from 24 April 2025, with further rollouts across other European markets throughout the second and third quarters of 2025.
With five distinct model lines available and an additional high-performance version set to debut at a later date, a diverse range of options will be available for its European customers. As the brand's first mid-size SUV, the #5 is powered by an 800V platform that offers extended range and ultra-fast charging capabilities.
The entry-level model, the #5 Pro, is equipped with a 76kWh battery and features advanced comfort elements, a panoramic halo roof, seamless connectivity, and driver assistance systems. From the #5 Pro+ onwards, all models have a 100kWh battery (built on the same platform) that supports fast 4C charging, allowing it to go from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes, as well as a WLTP range of up to 590km.
Moving upwards in the range, the #5 Pulse features a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain, an extra-wide dual OLED central display, and an energy-efficient heat pump. The #5 Summit Edition boasts a unique colour combination, AWD, and off-road enhancements such as an electric trailer hitch as well as a roof platform and side ladder. Finally, the #5 Premium, on the other hand, is said to provide a refined driving experience, premium comfort, and multiple colour trim options.
The Smart #5's design highlights include characteristic, oblong front and rear headlights as well as dual-coloured mirrors. Elements such as its panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, and short overhangs contribute to its sleek and dynamic silhouette. Inside, premium touches such as oak wood trim and premium leather upholstery emphasise the vehicle's premium character.
With five off-road driving modes in the Pulse and Summit Edition (Adaptive, Sand, Snow, Mud, and Rock), the vehicle is able to adjust to different ground surfaces. Both aforementioned variants offer a century sprint timing of 4.9 seconds.
With a wheelbase of 2,900mm and an overall length of 4,695mm, the Smart #5 models offer sufficient space, with 34 compartments, a 72-litre illuminated frunk, and up to 1,530 litres of boot space. All seats can also be adjusted to transform the cockpit into a comfortable resting and sleeping area. Additional features include exceptional legroom, heated rear seats, and electrically adjustable backrests, as well as an electric sunshield, airplane-style LED reading lights, and 256-colour ambient lighting.
At the centre of the #5's digital ecosystem is the latest-generation AMD V2000 chipset featuring a 25.6-inch Augmented Reality head-up display, a 10.25-inch Full HD digital instrument cluster, and two 13-inch OLED centre and passenger screens.
The Smart #5 also sports advanced safety features such as V-shaped curtain airbags, cushion airbags, and seat-integrated seat belts, with its steel-aluminium hybrid body offering increased rigidity and protection. To ensure it meets the expectations and needs of respective customers, all #5 models have undergone rigorous testing across Europe under diverse climate conditions and a plethora of traffic scenarios.
