Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a one-off Mercedes-Maybach S680 to mark the 150th anniversary of silver and yacht manufacturer Robbe & Berking.
The special S-Class takes its inspiration from the Sphinx 12mR yacht, built in 1939. Known as the 'night-blue beauty' in the yacht world, the craft was the first classic wooden yacht that Robbe & Berking restored, giving rise to the company's yacht shipyard, Robbe & Berking Classics in 2008.
The special Mercedes-Maybach S680 comes with an exclusive wood walnut trim with light-coloured aluminium trim strips chosen to echo the look of a ship's deck, while at the rear, the car comes with a cooling compartment complete with two silver-plated champagne goblets from Robbe & Berking
The special Mercedes-Maybach S680 thus comes finished in the same colour scheme as the Sphinx, featuring a two-tone paint finish of nautical blue metallic in the upper section and Manufaktur patagonia red bright on its lower section. These are separated by a filigree pinstripe in Manufaktur opalite white metallic to match the yacht's white waterline.
In the cabin, the one-off Mercedes-Maybach S680 gets Maybach Manufaktur exclusive nappa leather in crystal white complete with diamond quilting on its seats, headliner, door centre panels and storage compartment under the central display.
Orion grey decorative stitching has also been employed to stand out against the white leather in selected areas, described by Mercedes as forming an analogy to a sail. Further contrast in the cabin is created by the use exclusive wood walnut trim with light-coloured aluminium trim strips, echoing the look of a ship's deck.
The Mercedes-Maybach S680 also gets comfort-oriented touches including electric comfort doors at the rear, Manufaktur door sill trims with red illuminated 'Maybach' lettering, and a Burmester 4D surround sound system. Also on board are the MBUX high-end rear-seat entertainment system and a cooling compartment with two silver-plated champagne goblets from Robbe & Berking.
