Speaking after his thrilling win, Gushi said: "We are thrilled to have won the Canon Nations Cup here in Singapore and we went out on our run, wanting to have fun and give the crowd something to cheer about. This is not the first time Robbie and I have drifted together and I guess the judges liked the natural flow of our run. That is probably the reason for us winning it."
By a nerve-breaking 0.3 of a point, Team USA triumphs over Team Japan, and was declared victorious at Canon Nations Cup at the Achilles Formula Drift Singapore. Held at the Changi Exhibition Centre last Saturday, Canon Nations Cup marks its debut on local shores, with a total of six countries participating in the Cup, including Oceania, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the afore-mention trio.
Made up of Ken Gushi and Robbie Nishida, Team USA scored 20.8, with reigning champion Daigo Saito and Manabu Orido of Team Japan trailing at 20.5. With Jansen Tan and Ivan Lim at the helms, Team Singapore came in third. The twin definitely did the nation proud with impressive displays of car control and overtaking manoeuvres.
