The first details regarding the next generation C-Class

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a compact executive car that was introduced back in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range and until the introduction of the A-Class back in 1997, the C-Class was the smallest model in the German marque's line up.
After three generations that included two facelifts, Mercedes is all set to introduce the next generation C-Class at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January, before going on sale in August.
After the sedan body shape, the coupe and convertible models are expected to appear at the beginning of 2015 and Mercedes is expected to launch diesel and hybrid models, along with a 4matic option thereafter.
According to Mercedes-Benz U.S.A CEO, Steve Cannon, the fourth generation C-Class, presumably coded as W205, will be significantly redesigned from the current models.
Mercedes-Benz is also upgrading its Tuscaloosa, Alabama factory to make it production ready for a minimum annual production of 100,000 units. The new C-Class will also be the first to house a U.S. built engine.
The current C-Class is offered only as a sedan or coupe with petrol burning engines. But with its sights solely focused on the 3 Series range - sans the 3 Series GT which Cannon claims as an unnecessary product - the new C-Class aims to change that. An entry level C-Class is also not expected as it will be replaced with the front-wheel driven compact CLA-Class sedan.
