The head turning Lexus LF-CC concept gets green lit for production

Lexus has come a long way since its introduction in the late eighties especially in its styling department. From traditional boxy designs of the early years - the styling language of Lexus has evolved over the years with each new design bringing something fresh to the board. The current Lexus corporate face has introduced the 'spindle grille' (or what we like to call the predator face) now famously featured in the RX, GS, LS and the upcoming IS.
An evolved design was featured on the Lexus LF-CC, a mid-sized coupe which seems to be a competitor to the BMW 6 Series, Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or Audi A5. First shown as a concept at the Paris Motor Show early this year, the concept wore a more dominant spindle grille and harpoon shaped daytime running lights.
Good news then, that the head turning concept has been officially given the green light for production - as announced by a Lexus insider during the L.A. Auto Show. It was also suggested the LF-CC would be built as both a coupe and convertible with a production version expected to hit roads in 2015 - preferably with minimal changes to the well received styling that mirrors the larger LF-LC concept.
The LF-CC concept is powered by an evolved hybrid powertrain akin to the GS 350h and will be based on Lexus' new flexible rear-wheel driven architecture.
Also from L.A. Auto Show, rumours have emerged about Lexus' serious consideration for a small SUV akin to the Land Rover Evoque. With Lexus' own RX crossover range being successful it comes as no surprise Lexus is looking into expanding its RX range. Looks like some interesting concepts are coming from Lexus in the coming years. Time to start saving for your next car then.
