The new Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic Hybrid SAE 0W-20 has been launched in Singapore

Chevron International Pte Ltd has just launched its latest engine oil, Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic Hybrid SAE 0W-20 at an event held in the Grand Ballroom of Marriot Tang Plaza on 11 January 2023.

This new engine oil within the Caltex Havoline lineup is specially formulated for hybrid engines to maximise the engine performance and to ensure smooth engine operation.

With the world's effort in working towards cleaner and greener transportation, hybrid cars are becoming an increasingly popular choice.

These drivetrains that combine a conventional Internal Combustion Engine with an electric motor not only result in lower emissions, but also excellent fuel economy.

While hybrid powertrains are ingenious inventions, they do have their quirks, with specific needs to be met in order for them to work smoothly and reliably as intended.

For one, hybrid engines do not operate perpetually, unlike conventional Internal Combustion Engines. Instead, they are assisted by electric motors for the rest of the time.

Caltex Havoline Hybrid uses superior technology that forms a strong emulsion in the presence of water. This results in smoother oil flow even when the engine oil has been diluted with water and/or fuel over time.

This characteristic of the engine oil was demonstrated to the attendees of the event - water was added to a test sample of the engine oil and mixed vigorously.

After which it was shown that the water and the oil has been mixed into an emulsion that doesn't separate even after sitting for some time.

Yet another benefit of the engine oil was proven through a live demonstration involving two cast iron pins that were dipped into a mix of the new Havoline Hybrid engine oil and plenty of water, and a mixture of base synthetic oil and a similar amount of water respectively.

After a few hours, both cast iron pins were removed from the mixtures, which were heated to hasten the process of corrosion. Upon inspection, the cast iron pin that was dipped in the base synthetic oil mixture had started to show signs of corrosion. Meanwhile, the one that was soaked in the mixture which contains the new Havoline Hybrid had remained flawless.

The superior characteristics of the Caltex Havoline Hybrid makes it particularly suited for use on hybrid engines, in fact, conventional Internal Combustion Engines can too, benefit from the use of these new engine oil.
