The new Volkswagen Passat is now available in Singapore.
The new car will come with features such as the Active Info Display, LED head lights with animated indicators and LED taillights, as well as wireless App Connect.
Singapore-bound Passats will come equipped with a 188bhp 2.0-TSI engine, mated to a seven speed dual-clutch gerabox. The four-cylinder engine is characterised by a high maximum torque of 320Nm available between 1,500rpm and 4,100rpm, allowing the Saloon to reach a top speed of up to 238km/h, while the official combined fuel consumption amounts to 15.9km/L based on the New European Driving Cycle.
The front and rear bumpers, the radiator grille and the Passat logo, now located centrally at the rear, have all been redesigned for this new Passat.
The interior of the new Volkswagen Passat also sports new trim finishes and fabrics, redesigned door trims, a new trim colour, new instruments and a new standard multifunction steering wheel. A stylish backlit Passat logo also now rests in the dash panel instead of an analogue clock, while the centre console has a large, open storage compartment with an optional inductive interface for smartphones and adjacent, illuminated USB-C connection.
The screens of the Digital Cockpit and the Infotainment systems merge at night with the illuminated buttons on the capacitive multifunction steering wheel and the background lighting (up to 30 colours) to create a well-lit, aesthetic and functional platform for providing information. The ambient lighting's colour highlights are also reflected in the Infotainment system and Digital Cockpit.
The third generation of the Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3) also made its debut in this new Passat.
The new system will offer App-Connect Wireless, allowing drivers to access select smartphone apps directly from the built-in Infotainment display, while wireless Apple CarPlay support will also now be supported. An integrated online connectivity unit including eSIM as standard will also allow the new Volkswagen Passat to stay permanently online.
In Business trim, the new Passat will come with Sport Comfort seats for front passengers with a memory and massage function for the driver, LED headlights and taillights with fog lights and cornering lights, a rain sensor and auto dimming rearview mirror. The car will also get the 8.0-inch MIB3 infotainment screen. 17-inch alloy wheels will come in a 'Nivelles' design.
The Elegance spec Passat meanwhile features Volkswagen's IQ.LIGHT - delivering LED matrix head lights and LED taillight clusters with animated indicators.
The 'Nappa' leather seats on the Elegance-spec cars also ventilated. The standard equipment for the Elegance specification also includes Volkswagen's Easy Open electric rear boot, electric rear window sunshades, an electric panamoric sunshade, and stainless steel scuff plates at the front and rear doors. The MIB3 infotainment system is accessed via a 9.2-inch screen, while the car will sit on 18-inch alloy wheels in a 'Liverpool' design.
