The Omoda C3 was first unveiled back in April during the Chery International Business Summit that was held in Wuhu, China, the hometown of Chery Automobile.
Back then, we only managed a glance at the crossover from afar - it was communicated that the C3 will have its global official launch in October, with more details to follow.
Chery Automobile has brought the same car to the centre stage once again during its International User Summit, albeit with a new name - the C3 is now the Omoda 4.
Citing an evolution from the experience and feedback gathered, the Omoda C3 has progressed closer to production, and has gotten a new name while the brand was at it. This time round, we could all get up close to have a more detailed look at the car.
This time, attendees got to take a close look at the futuristic 'Starship Cockpit'; the wraparound cabin features carbon fibre-like trim pieces for added sportiness
With its doors opened, attendees of the event held in Wuhu, China, were able to scrutinise the futuristic cabin, dubbed the 'Starship Cockpit'. Inspired by aviation and 'starships', the Omoda 4 features a wraparound cabin with carbon fibre-like trim pieces and a Lamborghini-esque 'Launch Button' style start button on the floating centre console.
The Omoda 4 has a spacious interior with sizeable head room despite its slightly sloping roofline and sporty silhouette. While powertrain options have yet to be finalised, the Omoda C3 is expected to be offered in both petrol and new-energy powertrains (hybrid or electric), and it seems to remain to be the case.
However, with its low floor, the unit that was displayed at the event is likely to be a petrol variant.
The Omoda 4 encapsulates the brand's 'Cyber Mecha' design language, which features the use of sharp lines and angular shapes
On the exterior, the Omoda 4 has been designed with an all-new design language. Featuring sharp, geometric lines reminiscent of interstellar battleships, the Omoda 4 encapsulates the brand's 'Cyber Mecha' design language.
This seems to be Omoda's new design direction as we also had a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for the Omoda 5 (Omoda E5 in Singapore), which appears to bear a resemblance to the Omoda 4.
While there are no confirmations and further information on the Omoda 4, including when it will reach our shores, development seems to be chugging along, and we should get more updates in the near future.
