Think the Toyota Prius or the recently revealed Camry should be a little more exciting still? You might only have to wait until 2025 to get your dream Toyota.
The car you see in the pictures, is a new Sport Crossover Concept, said to be a preview of a new battery-electric model that is set to join its electrified range by 2025.
Revealed at Toyota's Kenshiki forum in Brussels, the concept gets a sleek fastback silhouette alongside angular head lights similar in shape to the mighty handsome new Prius. At the rear, you'll also note the car gets some muscular haunches, as well as a slim and sleek full-width taillight arrangement.
Toyota states that it plans to make this new model an attractive proposition for first-time electric car customers, promising that it will offer both a large boot and generous rear leg room (which no doubt will generate appeal amongst Chinese customers). It additionally states that it will position the model as a stylish alternative to the SUV (now that's something that even us will really get behind).
The Sport Crossover Concept is set to be developed for both Chinese and European markets by BYD Toyota EV Technology Co. Ltd. - a joint venture established in China by Toyota and BYD. Toyota plans to introduce a total of six battery-electric models by 2026. The firm also plans to exclusively offer zero-emissions vehicles by 2035 and reach complete carbon neutrality by 2040.
