Two new bus services will serve the Tuas West Extension (TWE) rail system starting on 18th June, SBS Transit and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said yesterday. Four other services will be amended to complement the four new TWE MRT stations - Gul Circle, Tuas Crescent, Tuas West Road and Tuas Link. Bus services 247 and 248, operating from Tuas Bus Terminal, will link Tuas South with the TWE stations and provide expanded coverage within the area.
Service 247 will serve Tuas Crescent and Tuas Biomedical Park I. Commuters can board it at Tuas Crescent and Tuas Link MRT stations. Service 248 will serve Tuas Biomedical Park II. Commuters can board it at Tuas West Road and Tuas Link MRT stations. Four bus services - 192, 254, 256 and 258 - will be amended.
Service 192 will be amended to ply Pioneer Road to serve Tuas West Road MRT station. It will skip Tuas Link 4 and Tuas Avenue 7, which will be served by new service 247 from Tuas Crescent and Tuas Link MRT stations instead. Within the Jurong West area, service 192 will also be amended to ply Jurong West Street 62 instead of Jurong West Street 63.
Service 254 will be amended to ply Pioneer Road, and skip Tuas Crescent and Tuas Avenue 20. It will connect commuters to Tuas Crescent and Tuas West Road MRT stations. The skipped sectors will be served by the new services. Services 256 and 258 will be integrated into service 258, operating from Joo Koon Bus Interchange and looping in Jurong West Street 64, via Jurong West Street 81 and Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim.
The skipped sectors along Jurong West Street 62 and Upper Jurong Road will be served by the amended Service 192. Bus services 182/M and 193 will remain unchanged. When adjusting the bus network, the LTA consulted stakeholders, including grassroots leaders in the Jurong West area and companies in the Jurong and Tuas industrial estates, it said. Commuters can preview the four new TWE stations on 16th June.
