Michelin is celebrating a double win at the Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2015. The French tyre brand scooped the Tire Manufacturer of the Year prize as well as the Tire Technology of the Year award at a ceremony at Tire Technology Expo in Cologne, Germany.
A panel of expert industry judges from around the world said both awards reflected Michelin's commitment to innovation. The Tire Technology of the Year accolade was given in recognition of the revolutionary EverGrip technology used in the Michelin Premier A/S, an all-season tyre that even when part worn stops shorter on wet roads than many competitors' brand new tyres.
EverGrip technology means rain grooves widen as the tyre wears, reducing the risk of aquaplaning, while extreme amounts of silica in the EverGrip compound ensure exceptional wet grip for everyday handling.
Jean Pierre Cesar, Michelin Vice President for Car and Light Truck Technical Operations Worldwide, said, "The successful launch of the Michelin Premier A/S tyre represents a significant breakthrough in automotive safety which is totally in line with our Michelin Total Performance strategy. The Michelin Premier A/S tyre, featuring EverGrip technology, provides drivers with shorter stopping distances, hydroplaning resistance and increased grip when new and worn."
